Collin Schlief Biography

Personal Biography of

Collin Schlief

I started my automotive career in 2003 with Schwieters Chevrolet of Cold Spring.  I began working here in the detail department and three months later I was offered a sales consultant position because of my hard working attitude and attention to detail.  Over the next three years I put everything I had into learning more about every position in the sales department, while becoming a Mark of Excellence award winner every year in that position.

The next year I was given the opportunity to continue as a sales consultant and become the Internet Manager.  My focus as Internet Manager was to respond to inquiries in a timely manner with answers to all questions.  This improved our customer internet experience which resulted in more sales.  During this time, I also started learning more about the used vehicle department as far as reconditioning and marketing the vehicle.

I love to learn, so after that, I wanted to know more about the paperwork and financial process involved in purchasing or leasing a vehicle.  Schwieters let me start working in the business office.  During the first year I assisted in this department we rose above the zone in customer satisfaction rating, which I thought was really cool.  Schwieters sent me to several business manager trainings and ethics seminars to continuously improve our department.  In a years' time, I was promoted to manage the business department.

With my background in various departments and successful track record, I was given and opportunity to manage the used vehicle department.  After I got the hang of that department, I started helping the new vehicle department manager too.

My greatest achievement to date has been the many awards Schwieters has earned for their outstanding customer service.  Schwieters has been awarded Mark of Excellence achievements for sales and service, and with that comes some pretty "schweet" trips. They recognized my hard work by gifting me some pretty awesome trips and prizes.

One of the best parts of our culture is, "We want to get better every day."  Part of this culture includes enabling us to take webinars or go to trainings to continually stay at the top of our game.  I took full advantage and made it a practice to study at least 2 different products or processes weekly that were related to our industry.

In 2013, I became the General Manager of Schwieters Chevrolet of Cold Spring, while also assisting with the purchase of our Willmar location.  Then in April, 2015 I was offered the opportunity to become a dealer partner.  This opportunity landed me in the friendly town of Montevideo at our first Ford location.  Daily I have new opportunities to learn and grow, and I'm excited to be here.

I believe that hard work, good communication, enthusiasm, training, always improving the customer experience, and dedication is the reason that I have been able to do what I have done.
